How many realize that many slaves and submissives struggle greatly to identify and communicate their needs and feelings, and will attend all day long to the Master or Dominant while ignoring or minimizing their own pain or distress, sacrificing themselves to please? How many ensure that open communication occurs and listen with patience and non-judgement so slaves or submissives can express themselves freely, thereby allowing them to gain relief and become open to feedback and guidance? How many focus on whether the slave or submissive is happy, and on learning what gives them peace, confidence, joy, satisfaction, and pleasure, just as the slave or submissive makes it a mission to know these about them? After all, no matter what type of lifestyle practices or dynamics one is involved in, this is still a relationship and therefore something that should enhance the lives of BOTH persons involved, not just the Master or Dominant. Ignoring, dismissing, disregarding, or negating the best interests of the slave or submissive is NOT in the best interest of forging a successful, enduring relationship---in fact it is its nemesis. It is also not in the best interest of Masters or Dominants who may find themselves captains to a crew of none, leading with no one following, on a ship headed toward disaster. The Titanic sank because of arrogant belief in infallibility and ignorant ignoring of the small tip of a humongous deadly iceberg, which is how most relationship problems begin---and end. Caring enough to observe and perceive issues, monitor the well-being and happiness of the slave or submissive, encourage open communication and expressiveness, and to give protection, nurturing, love, attention, reward, or whatever else is needed when it is needed---these will keep the relationship afloat and buoy the servant heart. Masters and Dominants frequently underestimate the absolute power they hold to uplift their slave or submissive with just a touch, a caress, a look, a word, a random act of kindness. Slaves and submissives know that The One who can take them down the lowest is also the One who can elevate them the highest, and lead them to flourish or flounder.
